NHL Injury Update: St. Louis Blue place Dylan Holloway on injured reserve after missing 15 games
The St. Louis Blues have recently announced that they have placed Dylan Holloway on injured reserve on Thursday because of a lower-body injury. The forward missed 15 games after injuring his right ankle during practice on Dec. 14 before returning to play the Edmonton Oilers on Jan. 18, but he hasn't played since, as reported by NHL.com.
The 24-year-old forward has 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in 34 games this season. Forwards Jordan Kyrou (upper body) and Jake Neighbours (lower body) are each day-to-day. Reports suggest Kyrou left after the first period of a 4-3 loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday after blocking an Esa Lindell shot midway through the period. Meanwhile, the Blues also recalled forwards Matt Luff and Hugh McGing from the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds in place of Holloway.
Dylan Holloway was placed on injured reserve by the St. Louis Blues on Thursday because of a lower-body injury. According to the NHL, the forward missed 15 games after injuring his right ankle before returning to play the Edmonton Oilers on Jan. 18, but he hasn't played since then.
Actually, the player, after suffering a high ankle sprain in his right foot against the Chicago Blackhawks on December 12th, missed a month of action. He returned against the Edmonton Oilers on January 18th, but has missed the Blues’ last four games.
Holloway has only played in one of St. Louis’ last 20 games while dealing with his right ankle injury. In just 34 games played this season, the Calgary native has eight goals and nine assists for 17 points. With this, Holloway has now missed several important games this season, and the Blues are expected to hold him out until after the Olympic break.
He was selected 14th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Holloway spent two underwhelming seasons in Edmonton before becoming a restricted free agent last season.
The Blues signed him an offer of a two-year, $4.58 deal, which the Oilers declined to match. Holloway went on to have a breakout campaign for St. Louis last season, putting up 26 goals and 37 assists for 63 points in 77 games. Meanwhile, St. Louis is dealing with significant uncertainty regarding which players will be able to suit up for Thursday’s home game against the Florida Panthers. Forwards Jordan Kyrou, Jake Neighbours, and Oskar Sundqvist will all be game-time decisions.
