Lewis played a key role in the Kings’ Stanley Cup victories in 2012 and 2014, carving out a name for himself as a reliable depth forward during the team’s most successful era. As per reports, he was one of the most decorated players in the league, known primarily for his exceptional skills and playmaking abilities.

As per reports, originally selected 17th overall by the Kings in the 2006 NHL Draft, Lewis spent 14 seasons with the organization, earning respect for his commitment on and off the ice.

In a statement, Lewis thanked the Los Angeles Kings, the team he helped win two Stanley Cups with in 2012 and 2014. In his farewell speech, he stated, “As a kid growing up in Utah,” Lewis said. “I could have never imagined this journey. Playing over 1,000 games and winning two Stanley Cups. Those milestones aren’t just numbers to me, they represent years of sacrifice, perseverance, and a deep love for the game.”


Lewis further added, “I want to especially thank the Los Angeles Kings organization for believing in me from day one. You gave me an opportunity to chase this dream, and together we built something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”

In a heartfelt message, Lewis reflected on his journey, expressing his gratitude to everyone for the opportunities, teammates, and experiences the game provided. He also highlighted reaching the 1,000-game milestone and winning the Stanley Cup twice as defining moments of his career.

According to Daily Faceoff, Lewis last played for the Kings during the 2024-25 season, scoring six goals and 12 points in 60 games. He was widely known for his shutdown ability, making him one of the better defensive players in the NHL. Reports suggest that in 1,034 games, the Salt Lake City native scored 104 goals and 133 assists for 237 points, with another 28 points in 106 postseason games.
