Winnipeg Jets to celebrate Black History Night on February 24, when they face the San Jose Sharks

This special event is part of the NHL's "Hockey is for Everyone" initiative, which promotes diversity, inclusion, and representation in the sport.The night will feature tributes to Black hockey pioneers, recognizing their contributions to the game and inspiring future generations. The event may also include themed warm-up jerseys, special merchandise, and unique cultural food offerings to celebrate Black heritage.For Black History Night 2025, the Winnipeg Jets have partnered with Zueike, a Black-owned, Winnipeg-based premium athlete apparel brand, to create exclusive merchandise.This year’s collection includes a 2025-edition long-sleeved tee that pays tribute to Eldon "Pokey" Reddick, a former Jets goaltender and the celebrated alumnus for this season’s Black History Night. Reddick was the first Black goaltender to win the Stanley Cup and played a key role in hockey history.Canada Life Centre Executive Chef Richard Duncan has partnered with Chef Rob Thomas, a local Winnipeg chef with Caribbean roots, to offer a special menu that celebrates Black culture through food.
