PRAGUE: Tomas Berdych said Thursday he would return to the Czech Davis Cup team for the semifinals against France at Roland Garros after taking a break in the quarterfinals in Japan.
"I am always proud to play for my country... I will play Davis Cup against France," the 28-year-old Berdych, the world number six, said on Twitter.
The Czechs, who won the trophy in 2012 and 2013 led by Berdych and veteran Radek Stepanek, will face France on September 12-14.

"Great news, the Czech team will play against France in the Paris quarterfinals at full strength, including Tomas Berdych," the team said on its Facebook page.
Without Berdych, the Czechs swept Japan 5-0 in the April quarterfinals in Tokyo for their 11th straight Davis Cup win.
Berdych and Stepanek also have an impressive record in Davis Cup doubles, having lost only one of their sixteen rubbers together.
Berdych is an exception among top players who often shun the Davis Cup to focus on their individual careers.
He has only missed three ties since he was first called up to the Czech Davis Cup team in 2003.
