SmackDown September 13: Cody Rhodes Retains the WWE Undisputed Title

The season premiere of Friday Night SmackDown was every bit worth the hype and anticipation. As advertised by the brand promising to deliver an entertaining season, the Friday Night SmackDown lived up to the expectations of the Seattle crowd. The electrifying crowd vibed to the new theme song, Triple H introducing the contenders for the night, and unexpected turns of battles that followed in the matches. The much awaited match, of course, was the one featuring Cody Rhodes fighting to keep his title of the Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa and the Bloodline.
The Friday Night SmackDown of September, 13 also saw the return of The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns. While the match commenced with Solo Sikoa taking an upper hand over Cody Rhodes, thrashing him around the cage wall to wall, Cody Rhodes waited for an opportune moment to prove why he is the American Nightmare.

The tense and gripping match between the self-proclaimed Tribal Chief and the American Nightmare had us on our toes the entire while. With unexpected turns after the other, including Solo almost dragging Cody into the cage with a massive suplex from the top, had the fans expecting a defeat for Rhodes. But the American Nightmare lived up to his name, landing on his feet just at the spur of the moment and hit his Cross Rhodes and cross body from the higher point in the cage to switch the moment in his favor. What followed was, of course, Cody Rhodes taking Solo down and keeping him for good.


This unexpected turn of events didn't go down well with The Bloodline who emerged to take their revenge on Rhodes. But the big event for the night was yet to be. It was right at this moment that the Original Tribal Chief made his entry with his music and joined Cody Rhodes in fighting off The Bloodline. Roman Reigns made his return into the wrestling circuits, after his brief hiatus, and it rightfully saved the night for The American Nightmare by teaming up with him. Cody Rhodes reclaimed the title of The Undisputed WWE Championship having successfully defeated the Bloodline of Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa.
