“He's the new generation, I'm the old generation”: WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg wants to pass the WWE legacy to Gunther

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has recently expressed his desire to pass on the WWE legacy to the next generation. In Goldberg’s opinion, Gunther will be a suitable talent to whom he can pass the torch of WWE.

Goldberg, who is a two-time WWE Universal Champion, is all set to hang up his boots in 2025. After the icon appeared on Bad Blood, he had a verbal exchange of fierce words with Gunther, after which he announced his return to put an end to his deserving career.

The legendary wrestler has announced his return to WWE in 2025 following a heated exchange with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. It is speculated that the wrestling icon is soon to make an appearance and is all set to lock horns with Gunther. However, this has not been confirmed yet by the company management or Goldberg himself.

WWE’s Goldberg talks about passing the WWE legacy to Gunther

WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg has expressed his opinion about the most anticipated match against current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. According to the WWE legend, it will be an opportunity to "pass the torch" to the younger generation. Goldberg discussed passing the torch to the next generation.



In an interview with "The Ariel Helwani Show," Goldberg reflected on the prospect of facing GUNTHER after their heated confrontation at WWE's Bad Blood premium live event in October 2024.

During the candid conversation, Goldberg said, "I guess I could look at it like I'm kind of passing the torch. He's a young talent, comparatively...well, everyone's young, comparatively. But he's a part of the new generation, and they need to be...I'm not going to say lifted up. But I think if that were the case, that if it was Gunther and I, I mean, it would be logical.”



He further added about passing the legacy to Gunther and acknowledged their age differences, “ There's some heat there, obviously, that's already been placed. And he's the new generation, I'm the old generation. It's kind of like the passing of the torch in a way. And you know, I wouldn't turn that one down by any stretch of the imagination, because you don't ever open your mouth in front of my wife and my son, negatively, about me."

Previously, Goldberg was set to appear on the January 27, 2025, edition of WWE RAW, held in Atlanta. However, the match was not scheduled despite reports of his appearance.

As of writing this article, WWE has no plans of featuring the iconic wrestler and it is not confirmed yet if Goldberg’s last bout will be against Gunther. Reports suggest that the confirmation will be announced very soon by the company. Meanwhile, Gunther is preparing for WrestleMania 41 "main event" against Jey Uso for the World Heavyweight Championship.
