Anthropic’s flagship artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Claude, has suffered a service disruption on June 2, leaving hundreds of users worldwide unable to access the platform. According to real-time outage monitor Downdetector, user complaints spiked sharply within a very short window in India as well as the US.
Anthropic has not yet released an official statement regarding the root cause of the downtime or an estimated time for a full system recovery but it has acknowledged that there has been a partial outage on various Claude products. As per Downdetector data, a majority of affected users were unable to access Claude Chat.
About 62% reported issues with Claude Chat while 17% reported problems with the app, and 15% reported issues with the website.
What Anthropic products are affected
Anthropic's status dashboard says multiple services are experiencing a Partial Outage, including Claude.ai, Claude Console (platform.claude.com), Claude API (api.anthropic.com) and Claude Code. Anthropic has acknowledged the issue on its official status page. The company listed an incident titled "Elevated errors across on Opus 4.6". The incident was first posted at 06:04 UTC on June 2. Claude suffered multiple major outages in April, leaving hundreds of users staring at error messages. Even at those times, Anthropic officially acknowledged the “Partial Outage” on its status page, noting that there has been an “Unresolved incident: Elevated errors on Claude.ai, API, Claude Code.”
