world environment day

World Environment Day is one of United Nation’s most important days that aims to encourage action and awareness about protection of the environment. The day was first conceived in 1974 and has today grown up to an international platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in more than 100 countries.

The day occurs on June 5 every year and has successfully campaigned in order to raise awareness on rising environmental issues from human overpopulation, marine pollution, global warming, sustainable consumption and wildlife crime.

Above all, this day is considered as "people's day" for doing something to take care of the Earth. Every year, World Environment Day is celebrated around a theme that gathers attention on a specific environmental concern.

The theme for 2018 is beating plastic pollution.

Forest dept to begin week-long world environment day progs with cleanliness drive
