Tipple of choice: Betty Ford has an unusual beer selection for Barcelona, with the Australian owners bringing in such antipodean pleasures as Cooper's Sparkling Ale.
In debates about which Barcelona address serves the best burgers, Betty Ford often comes out tops. Named after the former US first lady and rehab guru, this is the city's ultimate hip late night food stop, dishing out meat patties locals rave about (even though US visitors tend to find them merely respectable).

There's more to this Australian-owned joint than food, however. A lively, jumping cocktail bar with retro movies and surf footage projected on its walls, it's a second home for a twentysomething crowd that veers towards the tattooed, pierced side of hipness.
