The two slot canyons making up Antelope are like a winding maze of rounded narrow stone passages, in some places just wide enough for people to get through. The wall's sedimentary stripes are warm red and orange coloured and although dry most of the year the canyon floods during the wet seasons and the thunderous water continues to erode the sandstone, carving the canyon still deeper. Sunlight enters the canyons from above and through holes in some of the walls and acts as a spotlight, adding a startling effect on the strange environment. This is one of the most visited of the world's slot canyons because of its easy access and colourful rock.
