Dev Deepawali is a festival of light that is celebrated every year in the spiritual capital of the country, Varanasi. The grand celebration is organised on the occasion of Kartik Purnima, which marks the victory of good over evil. It is celebrated fifteen days after Diwali on the full moon day.
Dev Deepawali
This year, Dev Deepawali’s celebrations were inaugurated at Namo Ghat, where Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will light the first lamp, marking the start of the festival.
Special attractions this year
The celebrations will feature a 3D projection mapping laser show at Chet Singh Ghat, along with a Green Crackers Show across the Ganges sands, offering a unique visual experience.
Record number of lamps this year
Over 17 lakh lamps will light up Varanasi, including 3 lakh eco-friendly lamps made from cow dung, promoting environmental consciousness.
Lakhs of earthern diyas
Varanasi is illuminated with thousands of earthen diyas that light the Ganga ghats making a grand spectacle. The place is marked by special events like laser shows, the Maha Aarti, Ganga Aarti and other cultural performances.
Kashi Vishwanath Temple
The temple will be beautifully adorned with flowers, lights, and lamps, creating a serene atmosphere for devotees, with enhanced security and worship facilities for visitors.
