Indulge in fun and sand at this expatriates’ paradise – the beach-side, Pacific Ocean view destination is just a couple of hours drive from the capital San Jose. The most unique selling point of this place is its diversity in the kind of people you might end up meeting here. Don’t be surprised if in a 10-seater restaurant you end up finding people from ten different nationalities. Jaco is also a surfer's paradise. Gorge on the delicious international cuisines in a row of restaurants found here. The capital city does get grey and cold, so Jaco is an instant pacific-sun fix. Jaco is end to end walkable and is best enjoyed on foot. Jaco also has a bevy of pubs, hence a very active nightlife. The rentals are towards the higher end, so are restaurants. It should definitely be in your itinerary when you wish to indulge yourself in some high-end Costa Rican experience. Besides being the quintessentially happening beach town, you can indulge in regular touristy stuff like zip line canopy tours, visiting waterfalls, and birdwatching.
