Jama Masjid of Agra is popularly referred to as Jami Masjid or the ‘Friday Mosque’. It is one of the largest mosques in the country. This intricately carved red sandstone mosque was built in 1648 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The mosque was dedicated to Shahzadi of Mughal, Jahanara Begum, the beloved daughter of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. Besides Mughal architecture, one can also easily spot the influence of Iranian architecture in few designs of the monument. Read less

When you visit the renowned Agra Fort, do make a detour to see this heritage monument that is located opposite the fort.
