You don’t have to be getting married in Las Vegas to experience the Little Church of the West, the first wedding chapel in the city. Although the chapel changes location many, many times it remains true to its originality. The chapel was first built in 1942 by William J. Moore Jr and was the first to be designated as a wedding chapel only; many buildings before were being converted into chapels but this was the first to be built specifically for that purpose. Today, the church still retains its original church pews inside as well as the four Victorian lamps that light up the chapel, although they have been converted from gas too electric. It currently stands at the corner of Russell Road and Las Vegas Blvd and visitors can take a self-guided tour of the chapel for free, as long as there isn’t any wedding happening. A popular place to get married, this chapel has starred in movies and been privy to celebrity weddings in its history of past 70 years and shows no sign of slowing down.
