Located in the state of Mississippi, Natchez is just about 3 hour drive away from New Orleans. The place is perfect for your weekend fix, on the banks of the mystifying Mississippi River. Here at Natchez you are greeted by old plantations, the grounds of Native Americans, history museums, and even old cemeteries. The most exciting experience for history buffs would be the presence of about 668 antebellum (pre-US Civil war) homes, becoming the oldest civilisation on the Mississippi River region. The local mansions standing here are open to visitors during spring, and fall, so you could plan your trip accordingly. You could visit Charboneau Distillery, Natchez Brewing Company, and also the Old South Winery to get a taste of Southern booze. Natchez is also the biscuit capital of the world, so do not forget this bit when you are there.
