Ronda

Chances are you will see the dramatic landscape of Ronda plastered on a postcard as soon as you get off at Malaga airport. This historical town is definitely the proverbial cherry on top of the cake in the province of Malaga. It is one of the fastest growing towns in southern Spain but it retains its historical charisma. Consequently, its appeal stands unscathed.
The town’s dramatic location around a deep gorge makes it stand out. The Old Town is worth exploring but most tourists flock to the Puente Nuevo (the new bridge) that lies over the gorge and offers incredible views of the Serranía de Ronda Mountains. The feeling of standing on top of the bridge and staring at panoramas of the Spanish countryside is unbeatable. Ronda is also frequently in the news for its infamous pastime—bullfighting. The once-popular sport is becoming increasingly rare in this part of the country. However, it is possible to witness traditional Spanish bullfights at the annual Feria Goyesca, usually held at the beginning of September.
