That’s right, passenger can no longer smoke at the world’s busiest airport, the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The ban would be put in place on January 2, 2020, with the authorities shutting down all smoking lounges at the airport. The move has been made in the wake of Atlanta putting a ban on smoking and vaping in enclosed public places as well as bars and restaurants. Read less
The authorities opine that the decision is mandatory but having airport lounges limited people’s exposure to passive or secondhand smoking. Since the airport falls under Atlanta’s jurisdiction, the authorities will have to comply with the regulations put in place. Once the ban is put into place, all the smoking lounges at the airport will be converted and used for other facilities.
Jennifer Ogunsola, the spokeswoman for Hartsfield-Jackson, informed that “We plan to work with our airline partners to make sure they communicate with their customers that smoking is no longer permitted at ATL.”
