Leipzig’s old town is a warren of cobble-stoned streets but they are surprisingly quite wide owing to its history as a trading city. But they all inevitably lead towards the Market Square. A large and eye-catching square, it is filled with beautiful old buildings housing shops and restaurants while one side is dominated by the Old Town Hall. Built in the mid 16th century, it is a lovely long building with tiled roof and houses a museum that outlines the city’s history. Also here, in a corner is Restaurant Weinstock, an old establishment which serves Leipzig cuisine using seasonal ingredients. The restaurant looks out into the square and makes for a lovely dining experience. From one corner of the square you can also look across to St Thomas Church with a little garden in between. This is where buskers and street musicians congregate and is a fantastic place to perch on a bench and listen to music almost the entire day.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
