The Parliament Buildings, or Stormont as it’s known because of its location in the Stormont estate of Belfast, is one of the most striking pieces of architecture in Northern Ireland. It was used for the Parliament of Northern Ireland until 1972 and is now the official seat of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
When you reach the Stormont Estate, it’s easy to see why this is one of the most photographed buildings in Northern Ireland. Its architect, Sir Arnold Thornely, put a lot of thought into the symmetry and symbolism of the building. It’s 365 feet wide, with each foot representing each day of the year. Stormont is a six-storey building that has six pillars at its entrance – each representing a county in Northern Ireland.

These tours are the perfect way to experience the assembly chamber, the great hall, the senate chamber, the intricately designed ceilings, and the spectacular chandeliers that adorn the hall.
