These villages in Himachal Pradesh are special
Himachal Pradesh is one of the most visited states in the country, and understandably so. If one side of Himachal is covered with lush greenery, hills and rivers, the other side has a dramatic barren landscape. This diversity makes Himachal Pradesh a favourite among adventure travellers. And that’s not all. There are some villages in Himachal that are not only stunningly beautiful, but are also so unique in their own ways.

Here are some of those unique villages in Himachal Pradesh that you need to explore.
Pulga in Parvati Valley
Located in Parvati Valley, Pulga is a picturesque village, accessible only on foot. Yes, you read that right. There are no motorable roads in Pulga and to reach the village, you will have to trek a distance of approximately 3 km from the neighbouring village of Barshaini. There’s a dense deodar forest nearby called Fairy Forest. It is a popular trek and for those who love to spend some time in nature, this is a great experience. Visit Pulga to experience the traditional way of living.
Langza in Spiti Valley
Your Lahaul-Spiti trip is incomplete without a visit to the Langza village. Langza is one of the remotest villages in India. When in Langza, one can’t help but soak in the beauty of the nearby snow-covered mountains, the towering Langza Buddha Statue which is believed to be 1000 years old, old gompas and most interestingly, fossils of marine plants and animals. There are plenty of these fossils in the area.
Malana in Parvati Valley
Malana is probably one of the most unique villages in the country. The most popular product from the village is the internationally acclaimed hashish Malana Cream. Malana is unlike any other villages in Himachal or India. For instance, Malana is well known for being an orthodox and most reserved village in Himachal. The villagers don’t like to interact with outsiders. However, this does not mean the villagers are hostile. The visitors are not allowed to come into physical contact with the villagers without their permission. They don’t allow visitors to enter the temples either.
Kalpa in Kinnaur
Kalpa is one of the most scenic villages you will come across in Himachal Pradesh. The natural beauty of the place is so captivating. Traditional homes, apple orchards and pine and deodar forests give the village a very pleasant look. Kalpa is a photographer’s delight.
Chitkul in Kinnaur
Chitkul village is another gem from Kinnaur district. This village is the last inhabited village before the Indo-China border. Chitkul is usually off limits from October to February due to heavy snowfall. Summer is the best time to visit this unique high-altitude village.
