Tatra Mountains are like the younger siblings of Swiss Alps. They are a part of the Carpathian mountain ranges and home to a wide variety of species, including brown bear. Tatras form a natural border between the countries of Poland and Slovakia. Driving from Zakopane in Poland up to Bratislava in Slovakia, we passed through Tatra and Lower Tatra Mountains. It is an extremely scenic drive as you see the blue sky, tall green trees and lot of bright pink flowers on the mountains. The guides told us that these pink flowers have come up only after the Tsunami if 2004—how inter-dependent is our world. You can see various lakes and caves, including ice caves in these mountain ranges. You can stop by small villages where you will be touched by the simplicity and innocence of the people. Read less

You can see some ancient castles on the hilltops that you can climb if you can walk. You can see many ski pads and bath spas that is a favourite activity in this part of the world. You can see people practicing their ski jumps, which looks quite adventurous. Mountain biking and rock climbing are also popular in this region as are the thermal spas.
