Larco Museum Lima

For something a little different, head to The Larco Museum. This museum of Pre-Columbian Art is frequently in the news for its expansive range of galleries that encompass over four thousand years of Peruvian historical heritage. The collection is impressive but the building itself is no less.
The building is actually a famed seventh century Columbian pyramid temple, which was refurbished by Spanish Viceroyalty as a mansion in the Eighteenth century. The building still reflects this history through its façade, walls, and even its ceiling. Rafael Larco Hoyle founded the museum. He named it after his father Rafael Larco Herrera who was a passionate collector of myriad archaeological treasures.

It’s easy to spend hours exploring the treasures housed at the Larco Museum. There is a huge collection of erotic pottery, mummies, Incan artefacts, and other such.
