Latvia is absolutely loaded with castles, over thirty of them to be exact, and exploring some of them should be high on the list of visitors to this country. One of the first stops should be the Turaida Castle where this impressive building rises above the green landscape like a ship built of red brick. Visitors can walk along the castle ramparts and explore miles of hiking trails on the grounds. Another must-visit is the Bauska Castle, which comprises two parts, Medieval Castle and Ducal Palace, an exceptional example of a Renaissance Palace in the country. Among these, the medieval part boasts a 22-metre high tower that gives exceptional views from the top. Furthermore, Cesis Medieval Castle is one of the most significant castles in Latvia as the Livonian Order had its centre here for several centuries while Krustpils Castle is one of the best preserved castles in the country, and both deserve a visit.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
