The Indian Railways' waiting rooms have caught the fancy of the railway officials now. Reportedly, the Delhi Division of the Indian Railways has been given the duty of refurbishing the waiting rooms by enhancing them with modern amenities for the passengers. The Indian Railways' waiting rooms have caught the fancy of the railway officials now. Reportedly, the Delhi Division of the Indian Railways has been given the duty of refurbishing the waiting rooms by enhancing them with modern amenities for the passengers.
The Delhi Division has been told to carry out the project for 3 months and then give a comprehensive appraisal report to the Railway Board for further examination.

The seeming agenda behind this initiative is to make the passengers feel comfortable when a long wait for the train is inevitable. "Passengers have to wait in waiting rooms for hours sometimes, especially during foggy weather when trains get delayed indefinitely. So, equipping the waiting room is just to make the passengers comfortable during the long wait," a news website quoted a senior railway official as saying.
As soon as this project is executed well, the Railway Board will apply the same model throughout the whole chain of railways.
The Northern Railway Zone has five railway divisions, and Delhi Division is one of them. It is headquartered in Delhi and covers a route of 1,386.82 km with 213 stations. Around 500 passenger trains and 210 freight trains are handled by the division on a daily basis.
