St. Martin’s Cathedral is an important church of Bratislava. It was originally built in 13th century in Gothic style but was converted into a Renaissance style church in 14th century. This cathedral’s claim to fame is that it was the coronation church for Hungarian kings and many as 19 emperors were crowned here. Even the famous Queen Maria Theresa was crowned here which means that the church served this purpose pretty much till 19th century. St Micheal’s cathedral has three naves and over the time various users kept on adding chapels to it, along with the famous St. Martin’s statue. An interesting part of this cathedral is a notice commemorating Beethoven’s op 123, which is said to have premiered here in 18th century. Read less
