Indians can soon now fly to Sydney from Bengaluru as Qantas Airways, Australia’s national airline, has decided to start operating four weekly return flights between the two cities. Qantas is currently finalising code-share partnership with IndiGo.
The airline thus becomes the first direct flight between southern India and Australia. Travellers would be delighted to know that with the introduction of these four weekly flights, travel time will cut down by almost three hours.
The all new route from Bengaluru will allow travellers from other Southern Indian cities to fly to Sydney more easily. So those from cities such as Pune and Goa can board flights from Bengaluru. It has been reported that the code-share agreement with IndiGo will permit connections via Delhi, Bengaluru or even Singapore into Australian cities.
In the future, Qantas Frequent Flyer programme will allow travellers to earn and redeem points on connecting IndiGo flights. IndiGo will also recognise Qantas Frequent Flyer benefits for members, and allow facilities such as additional baggage allowances, priority baggage, and priority check-in.
