This move comes in the wake of facilitating the stay of tourists, who visit the region in large numbers during this time.

If reports are to go by, the decision was taken during a high-level meeting of the senior police officials, chaired by Ashok Kumar, Director General of Police, Uttarakhand on Thursday.
The DGP also held a review meeting with the police officials of Dehradun, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal and Nainital districts through video conferencing and took a round-up of preparedness and traffic arrangements in view of the New Year celebrations
So, while hotels and restaurants will remain open 24 hours till January 2, 2023, only those visitors will be allowed to go toward Mussoorie and Nainital who have prior hotel bookings. Traffic plans have also been made for the convenience of tourists and local people. Additional parking places, route diversion are also being identified in advance, so that there are no major traffic disruptions during this time.
