A year younger

It’s just half a century for the ace cricketer who has several records in his cricket career. There are many more years to come. His dedication for work, effort and spirit is proof that he turned a year younger. Energy always flies high when Dada is on the shooting floor. And if you still have doubt, look at his charismatic smile! (Photo: Instagram)

Dada is more than an emotion

There is no doubt that Sourav Ganguly is more than an emotion to aam Bangali. Time and again, he proved that determination, hardwork and patience are the key to success. A rare combination of talent and charm

Sourav is a rare combination of charm and talent. ‘Dadagiri’ showcased his other talents. Sourav is well-read and has in-depth knowledge on many topics. Beloved Dada

His family addresses him as Maharaj, fellow cricketers call him as Dada while Geoffrey Boycott used to call him ‘Prince of Calcutta’. And from 8-80, he is beloved Dada. Why us, ask the young participants who appear on Dadagiri who often say ‘Tumi toh Dada’! (Photo: Facebook)

Dadagiri

There is no doubt that it is Sourav Ganguly’s Dadagiri on Bengali TV. A show that is aired only on weekends, can compete with all other daily soaps that are being aired 7 days a week. And why wouldn’t be. Dadagiri Unlimited recently completed its 9th season which was equally successful. (Photo: A still from Dadagiri 9's finale)

Wittiness and eloquence

Sourav has a good sense of humour and he is extremely eloquent. His witty and intelligent one-liners and quick replies never let the show have a dull moment. From his much-talked about relationship with Greg Chappel, famous shirtless moment at Lords, or referring to ‘Madam’ (his wife Dona), Sourav keeps making witty comments on different topics during the show and that’s what makes ‘Dadagiri’ special. Once celebrity participant Sonalee Chaudhuri asked Dada to choose the starcast for the classic Hindi film 'Sholay'. The catch was, the cast should be cricketers. Dada left the participants clean bowled when he promptly replied that Virender Sehwag will be Sholay’s Veeru if he has to play Jay’s role. When asked who would play the famous Gabbar Singh, Dada quickly said, “Let Greg Chappell perform Gabbar’s job.” He also keeps talking about Dona and refers to her as ‘Madam’ while narrating his personal experience.
