​After spending the better part of her life in front of the camera, actress Rachana Banerjee is shifting gears. The ‘Didi No. 1’ host has stepped into the arena of politics and is contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 election. The actress will be fighting for the seat in Hooghly constituency in the upcoming election. She will be contesting against her colleague from the Bengali entertainment industry, the actress turned politician Locket Chatterjee. Rachana started her campaign a month ago, and the fans and followers of the actress witnessed a whole new side of the popular actress.

From fame to trolls



​Rachana Banerjee has lived her life in front of the camera for a long time. Not just Bengali films, the actress has worked in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Odia, and Hindi films as well. Fame and popularity are not new to Rachana. But trolling is. The actress experienced severe trolling during her campaigns. Her comment about ‘black smoke’ went viral on social media and the actress was trolled mercilessly.

From the vanity to the streets



​Rachana has been working in the entertainment industry for almost three decades. The 49-year-old actress has lived her life under the cloak of glam and glitz. For the election campaign, Rachana walked the streets to mingle with the commoners. During one of her campaign days, the actress even sat on the earthen floor to have her lunch.

Change in diet



​The summer heat and the rising temperature have taken a toll on the candidates who have been campaigning for the upcoming election. Rachana has been extremely mindful about her diet throughout. The actress suggested to her peers and party workers to consume curd as much as possible to beat the beat. Rachana was seen serving meals to them too. Recently, the actress indulged in having some street food from a roadside vendor on her way.

Balancing it all



​Despite back-to-back campaign days, Rachana did not overlook her popular gaming reality show on Bengali television, ‘Didi No. 1’. The actress spent days campaigning, she shot for her reality show post that. Initially, there was a buzz that ‘Didi No. 1’ might go off-air, but that did not happen. Rather, Rachana balanced both her responsibilities like a pro.
