‘Tomader Rani’ goes off-air on August 11; Cast and crew share photos of the last day of shoot

​After ‘Love Biye Aaj Kal’ and ‘Jol Thoi Thoi Bhalobasha’, a popular Bengali television channel is set to conclude another mega serial. After a 10-month-run, ‘Tomader Rani’ is going off-air. The show, that narrates the story of a young mother trying to juggle her career and her daughter, is drawing its curtains on August 11.

​‘Tomader Rani’ was created by Susanta Das, who has been behind popular and successful TV soaps like ‘Saat Pake Bandha’, ‘Joyee’, ‘Krishnakoli’, ‘Alta Phoring’. The story of this female-centric show was based on the journey of a young woman who is an all-rounder in her life.

​‘Tomader Rani’ became a household name with its content and storyline. The female protagonist of the show, Rani, was shown as a young mother in her 20s. She appeared for the medical entrance test while she was already expecting a baby. While judgemental eyes were her companion all along the way, Rani appeared for the examination with confidence and fearlessness. While society expected her to choose between her career and her child, she refused to pick one. Instead, she chose both and navigated her journey through life balancing her ambitions and motherhood.

​‘Tomader Rani’ starred Abhika Malakar and Arkaprabha as the lead cast of the show. While Abhika essayed the character of Rani, Arkaprabha played the role of Durjoy. On the other hand, ‘Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni’ famed actress Somashri Bhattacharyya played the antagonist Anisha on the show.

​‘Tomader Rani’ started its journey last September with a fresh story of a young and ambitious mother. Due to its engaging content, it did not take much time for the show to win the hearts of the audience. However, the spell was not a long-lasting one. As the story deferred from its initial concept, the ratings of the show started deteriorating. The channel authority hence has taken the decision to conclude the show before it clocks a whole year of its run.
