After missing in action for almost a month,
Ashita Dhawan Gulabani
is all set to resume shooting for
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai
. She joined the show in January this year. She says, “I was desperately waiting to resume work, as it was the need of the hour. I shot with them last on April 12.”
Apart from being excited about returning to work, it’s also the steady income that has
Ashita
heave a sigh of relief. She says, “A nationwide lockdown was announced soon after my last show Nazar went off air in February last year. An artiste doesn’t make a lot of money unless her show runs for at least two years. With no work in hand, I had no other option, but to dig into my savings to ensure smooth functioning of the house and take care of the EMIs as well. It’s not easy to run the house when you don’t have a steady inflow of money.”
Most units have had to move to other states after the shoots of TV shows and films came to a halt in
Maharashtra following a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases. Will she be comfortable leaving her eight-year-old twins, Amaira and Arhmaan, and shooting in another city? “It’s a tricky situation for all the parents in the industry. It’s easier for someone with another source of income to decline work and be with their families. However, I don’t have anything to fall back on, and reporting to work is the key to survival. Kamaayenge tabhi toh ghar chala paayenge. My kids will struggle to stay without me, but the luxury of staying at home isn’t an option for me.”
