Bade Achhe Lagte Hain actor Nakuul Mehta reveals he was rejected by a Hindi film director for being ‘too good looking’
Popular actor Nakuul Mehta, who is known for his performances in shows like Pyaar Ka Dard Hai..., Ishqbaaz, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, recently opened up about facing rejection in Bollywood. In an interview with News18, Nakuul shared an incident when he was rejected by a Bollywood director for being “too good-looking”. The actor disclosed that he was once considered for a major Hindi film, but the project ultimately didn’t take shape.
Recalling it as the weirdest rejection ever, Nakuul recalled, "The weirdest thing had happened. There was this once very popular producer and director. I was slated to do a sequel to a really beautiful film with him. Everything was done. We shot pictures and got the dates. I was at an acting workshop when he called and told me, ‘I was thinking about it. I think you’re too good-looking for the part, ya.’”
He further shared, “I said okay. It was the role of a rajkumar from Rajasthan that I was supposed to play. But I kept thinking, what does my look have to do with the character I was supposed to play? Then I realised that he didn’t have a better excuse to give. I didn’t know what to make of that. I was like, what is he saying?”
Nakuul went on to share how the film eventually was not made and revealed that the director recently went to jail.
Nakuul recently appeared in the show Space Gen – Chandrayaan. The show also stars Shriya Saran, Prakash Belawadi, Amruta Khanvilkar, Gopal Dutt and Meiyang Chang in pivotal roles. The show is based on India’s Chandrayaan lunar exploration programme. The series portrays the journey from the setback of Chandrayaan-2 in 2019 to the historic soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 near the Moon’s south pole.
