Bigg Boss 19: From being praised for his calm gameplay to Salman Khan calling him ‘Superstar of TV’; finalist Gaurav Khanna’s journey in the show

From a controlled calm to sudden emotional honesty, Gaurav Khanna’s Bigg Boss 19 journey has been anything but ordinary. Week after week, his dignified restraint, rare confrontations, and deeply personal moments shaped one of the season’s most discussed arcs. As Salman Khan crowned him the “Superstar of TV,” here’s a closer look at the defining chapters that made Gaurav’s path unforgettable.

Winning the Ticket to Finale

Gaurav’s first major victory came in the high-pressure Ticket to Finale task. Balancing a wooden plank with water bowls on his shoulders alongside Farrhana, Pranit, and Ashnoor, he chose patience over panic. While others cracked under physical and mental strain, Gaurav stayed composed. His silent determination paid off when he outlasted Pranit and Ashnoor. That win secured his immunity at a crucial stage.

Salman Khan calling him ‘Superstar of TV’

One Weekend Ka Vaar turned into a tribute to Gaurav’s decades-long dedication. After Farrhana’s dismissive comment about not knowing his work, Salman intervened strongly saying, “If this is his personality, I would praise it; and if this is his game, hats off brother.” Her words pinched Gaurav like a cold wind, prompting his wildest reaction on the show ever. Salman in a furious mood slammed Farrhana Bhatt for her insulting and personal remarks against Gaurav and TV industry. Salman added, "If he says, he is the superstar of TV and you don't agree with it, then I'm saying he is the superstar of TV. He started from here and his fans have made him a superstar. He has been working 18 hours a day for 20 years consistently. He handled your words with grace and never went personal. Agar kasam khuda ki main bhi ghar mein hota na, toh I would have not been able to react the way, Gaurav has handled this. I would not have someone speak about my career and family."

Picking his own battles

Gaurav rarely lost his temper, which made his confrontations impactful. As captain, he finally raised his voice when Tanya and Farrhana refused to do chores. His debate with Amaal Mallik on nepotism also sparked discussion. He stayed sharp, not abusive, showing that arguments don’t require insults. Each time he spoke up, it was measured, controlled, and purposeful.

His ‘baby plan’ being talked about

Gaurav Khanna’s baby plan was widely discuss in the show. So much so that during media interactions in the house, he was asked if he was trying to seek sympathy by asking the astrologer about having children, despite him and his wife already deciding not to have kids. While responding, Gaurav grew visibly emotional, saying, "Sabse pehle toh main ye bolna chahta hoon, I love kids. Aur maine jab shaadi ki thi, tab main ye tahe dil se chahta tha ke mere bacche ho. It is a very touchy topic. Par aaj ke zamane mein bahot aise kum mard hain, joh apni biwi se itna pyaar karte hain, ke woh apni dil ki choice ko maar sake. I love my wife." Gaurav always maintained that it was his wife Akanksha Chamola and his mutual decision to not have kids due to her career and various other reasons.

October brought a surprise reward for Gaurav when he won a brand new car during a sponsor task. Chosen by housemates themselves, the win symbolised the respect he had earned.
