Umar Riaz was born in a middle-class family and hails from Jammu. He did his schooling and further studies from Jammu and Kashmir. Umar's father, Riaz Ahmed Choudhary is a retired politician. Umar always had an attraction towards showbiz and also did modelling. He posed for some renowned Indian photographers.

Umar Riaz is an MBBS and has done Masters in Surgery. According to reports, he started practising as a senior doctor at Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital And Research Centre in Mumbai.

Umar Riaz loves spending time with pet dogs and other than that during his spare time, he loves riding horses. He is also a fitness enthusiast and spends most part of his day in the gym.

She'd written on Twitter, "Dekho reality saamne aane ke baad, How @realumarriaz is behaving, Even if I am a flop actor, Or chapri tiktok star , I am happy because jo bhi hai khud ke dum pe hai, Atleast kisi aur ki fame par nahi jeeti mai, Respect dekho shame (sic)." She'd also accused him of using her money and having access to her online applications even after they broke up. Later, Umar squashed these accusations by saying that Sonal is playing tricks because she wants access to Bigg Boss.
