Debina Bonnerjee reveals bleeding constantly throughout the first trimester of second pregnancy; says ‘For years I believed my body is not capable of naturally conceiving’

While Debina Bonnerjee and Gurmeet Choudhary are expecting their second baby just four months after giving birth to Lianna, the former shared in her vlog about how she discovered being pregnant again, how she felt no pregnancy symptoms, bleeding through her first trimester, taking expensive blood test to make sure there would be no complications and more.

Debina further shared that she kept dilly dallying until she finally decided to take the pregnancy test at home. When she found out that she is pregnant again, Debina shared what came to her mind. “I was shocked, I was extremely happy, I thought what to do next, these were the three feelings I went through,” added Debina. “I was so overwhelmed that I thanked my body. Bhadh me jaye all people, medical reports which told me that my body is not capable. It happened. That’s called a miracle,” she said.

The actress further added, “In past 5-7 years I lived with the thought that my body has lost the natural capacity to conceive. My body is not up to the mark. I had endometriosis, Adenomyosis, which is ultimate obstruction to conceive naturally. I had a decline in AMH, which was depleting in very high rate. My quality of eggs were not good. Also, the major problem which I faced was my uterus lining was never forming well. My body was not at par to conceive naturally.”

Debina shared that when she found out that she is pregnant again and informed hubby Gurmeet, he was in disbelief. She shared, “In his mind, he knew this can never happen. He wanted to know if the test is recent. We were not capable to get pregnant by ourselves. So we slept off on that with confusion in our head and wanted to get it checked.” Debina revealed that even her doctor was in shock. “Even her reaction was that of shock and disbelief and called me for check up asap,” she shared. They did a small scan and could hear a heartbeat. Next day, Debina did an early pregnancy scan. Debina shared, “I can share from my life experience, human body is capable of doing everything if we give it a little space, give a breather, not put too many expectations and not pressurise a lot.”

Debina spoke about many people telling her that she was fat and didn’t lose the baby weight and now she has an answer to all – I am pregnant. The actress further added that not many knew about her pregnancy and only her mother was aware. “I was doing a lot of things after Lianna’s birth and then the doctor told me to put my life on second gear and slow down. Hence, I informed her. I wanted her support to rest my body. My mom was so thrilled. She was constantly with me throughout my IVF journey. When I had a miscarriage, she was also with me.”

If a lady is lactating or breast feeding, she cannot conceive again. I didn’t breast feed a lot as I hardly had milk. I top feed and formula feed Lianna. Many people questioned me but of course if I am not capable, I will take resort. I was also bleeding all throughout and hence the idea of me being pregnant never crossed my mind. Even when I conceived, heard heart beat, I realised my bleeding didn’t stop. It worried me.

I was bleeding all throughout my first trimester and found no help online. Every time I type bleeding during pregnancy, results showed – miscarriage. My pregnancy was showing normal and doctors were also confused. Finally, after a scan, they found a clot. It was an old clot that stayed. It was very strange. I was in tension as there was no benchmark to take example from. I am an example. After 3-5 scans, and I was told until the clot is present, bleeding won’t stop. After 2nd-middle of third month, my bleeding stopped.

At the beginning of 12th week, a scan and blood test require to be done to examine if the baby has any chromosomal defect like Down’s Syndrome or Edward’s syndrome. Doctors say when a woman is above 37, the eggs are matured and the chances of such chromosomal defects are more. I am not going to think much until those scans are done. I had to wait for those scans and blood test. Doctors suggested me an expensive blood test, which was about Rs 60K and now it has come down to Rs. 16k, which is also expensive. In this test, all types of chromosomal defects can be detected and in reports it is shown – high or low risk. Our focus was to wait for the right time to announce.

The second tension was report of the blood report still stayed. The doctor advised me rest. I had help, family members around me so that I could take proper rest. I would think a lot because with everything that I wanted to be happy about, carried some kind of problem attached to it. I finally started thinking that if everyone is calling this baby a ‘miracle’, then the miracle is here to test. Also, all my scans, expensive blood test reports came back normal.

Debina shared that her mother told her, “Lianna is a soul and she called her soul mate. Every person has a soul mate and Lianna has called her soul mate.”

Many people asked me about my symptoms and I had none. No cravings, no weird smell, no nausea, I could eat fish, no fainting, no constipation – all in all I had zero symptoms.

I spoke to myself, I spoke to my baby – You made me reinstate that my body is capable of doing everything. You have come here because you are here to stay. So fight for yourself and heal yourself. And you won’t believe me, in 3-4 days my bleeding stopped. Sometimes when things are out of your control, doctors’ control… leave it to the Almighty. He will heal.
