Controversial reality show Bigg Boss is known to have one foreign contestant almost every season. Afghan-American model Vida Samadzai was seen in season 5 of the show. She is also a beauty pageant winner and landed in controversy in her native country, Afghanistan, after she wore a red bikini for Miss Earth competition in 2003. The beauty contest winner found herself embroiled in controversy after she wore a red bikini for Miss Earth pageant in 2003. Several in Afghanistan, where she hails from, objected to it as being against their culture.

Vida also has a home in Mumbai and participated in Bigg Boss 5. She was evicted on Day 49 of the show.

During her BB stint, Amar Upadhyay flirted with her and gave her a back massage which made it to the headlines. The actor continued to be friends with her even after the show.
