Erica Fernandes' dyslexia to Sumona Chakravarti suffering from endometriosis: TV celebs who spoke about their medical issues

Life is also difficult for celebrities who are constantly in the spotlight. However, it takes a lot of courage for a popular celebrity like them to be open about their personal concerns, particularly the medical conditions they are suffering or have previously suffered from. Recently, a few TV celebrities have overcome anxieties and spoken openly about medical challenges they have suffered in their lives. Erica Fernandes had spoken about her dyslexic illness with her fans to Sumona Chakravarti suffering from Endometriosis.

Erica Fernandes

Everything that was on the board used to dance. It’s still now. Sometimes, when I look at words, I feel like it will spell right but I keep wondering that it doesn’t look right. There’s something wrong about this. I am a virtual learner. I observe a lot. That’s the reason why I don’t read much. But I can hear and watch something and learn. I was not into studies a lot. I used to sit 1-2 days before the exam and that’s when I used to study. I was an average student and in school I would be within 10th rank.”

Shama Sikander

Shama Sikander has been open about her bipolar disorder and sadness. She says she doesn't have the words to convey how difficult every moment was for her. Shama had told IANS: “That is the darkest time anybody can ever have. That is like waking up with a pandemic almost every moment and minute of your life. You don't know what's going to happen, you are so uncertain. You don't even have desires at that time. The saddest part is that you don't have any hope. Depression or bipolar are mental situations where you tend to lose hope and desires and that is the darkest space any human being can ever be in. I don't think there is anything sadder than that. It's the worse a human being can go through and if you survive that you can survive anything, any pandemic. I died for five years every day thinking that I am going to die and I should die, and there is probably nothing for me to look forward to. So, I want to tell people who might feel vulnerable and helpless that you will find the light. You just have to hang in there.”

I was shocked by then Sohil arrived and he also asked me to lose weight. He told me you have to lose weight in 20 days. I straight away told me it is impossible to lose weight in such a short period. Sohil said if you don’t lose weight we won’t call you for shoots.”

She further added, “Everyday I would take injections and it was so painful that I asked the doctor to find an alternative to the injections. But he said my health was such in a bad state that medicine would not be helpful. Post that I developed health issues and I have fainted on the sets so many times because of the deficiency. Been in stage IV for many years now. A good eating habit, exercise & most importantly no stress is key to my well being. The lockdown has been emotionally hard for me. The idea was to spread awareness about a health ailment #Endometriosis which is as common as PCOD/diabetes probably. Am glad a lot of young girls, women, doctors, and husbands are reaching out on behalf of their wives... have responded & realised how important it is to give it the medical attention it needs. As far as I'm concerned, I am doing okay. Been managing it medically for as long as i can remember. So thank you for all your duas & prayers. Peace & Love (sic).”
