Every single day we should give a lot of respect to women: Saanand Verma on Women’s Day
Actor Saanand Verma, known for Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!, says women should not be celebrated only on International Women's Day, but respected every single day.
“In my opinion, every day should be Women’s Day,” he says. “In human history, women have suffered a lot. They have faced injustice, cruelty, exploitation, and disrespect. They were suppressed by society for a very long time.”

For him, the importance of women in society is undeniable. “Without women, the world cannot exist. Every single person exists because of a woman. She is the one who gives birth to us. So the more respect we can give women and the more we can care for their happiness, the better it will be.”
While he appreciates the observance of Women’s Day, he believes the sentiment should go beyond one date. “If March 8 is celebrated for creating awareness, I feel happy about it. But I also believe that every single day we should live our lives keeping women’s comfort, needs, and happiness in mind.”
Saanand also feels the meaning of empowerment has evolved. “Earlier, women could not take decisions on their own. Around 50 years ago, most choices were made for them. Today, both women and men are able to make their own decisions and live life according to their wishes.”
He adds that stronger legal protection for women is justified. “For years in a male-dominated society, women suffered a lot. If laws today support them more, there is nothing wrong with that. Women were always powerful, but now their power is more visible.”
Speaking about awareness, he says, “Women’s Day helps create conversations through campaigns and activities. That awareness is important.”
On International Men's Day, he remains neutral. “Society has largely been male-dominated, so men haven’t really needed a separate day. If it’s observed, that’s fine too,” he concludes.
