Amrapali Gupta, who was last seen in Rabb Se Hai Dua, is now turning heads as the stylish antagonist Samrgyi in the TV show Mannat – Har Khushi Paane Ki, which stars Ayesha Singh and Adnan Khan in lead roles.
Talking about her much-awaited comeback, Amrapali can’t hide her excitement. She says, “My character name is Samrgyi and I am playing the villain. I am feeling good, happy and excited."
For Amrapali, Samrgyi isn’t just another negative role. “This character feels different from anything I’ve done. I’m loving my look,” she says. The actress has undergone a striking makeover for the part. “I’m getting to adopt a lot of fashion. The look is all smoky eyes and red hair. I colored them from brown. Since Ishqbaaaz, I've been experimenting with my looks. This is something I enjoy doing, to look a little different and trendy, and people are already loving it.”
It’s not just the look that’s changed. “My voice is softer, calmer, more composed, because that’s what she needs,” Amrapali reveals, adding layers to Samrgyi’s persona.
But don’t mistake Samrgyi for a one-note vamp. “And her heart? It’s not about what she wants this time.
She fights for the people she loves, especially her sister. If they want something, she’ll get it for them, anyhow,” she explains.
Earlier actress
Mona Vasu played the antagonist. With a new track after her exit Amrapali is introduced as new antagonist in the storyline. She feels stepping into a role is challenging. The audience already has an attachment, to which she says, "Audience loved Mona Vasu's role. I'm aware about the comparisons but again I'm stepping into a new role, fresh story. All I can do is to try earn my own place in the story."
The vibe on set has made the comeback sweeter. “The set feels like home. The production house, Sahil the director, Mukta ma’am, everyone’s so warm and comfortable. Three days in, and so far, so good,” she signs off.
Popular for powerhouse performances in Meet: Badlegi Duniya Ki Reet, Gud Se Meetha Ishq, Bahu Begum, Qubool Hai, and Teen Bahuraaniyaan, Amrapali Gupta is clearly set to own the screen again.
