Exclusive - Bigg Boss 19's Ashnoor Kaur addresses allegations of hitting Tanya Mittal during the task; bond with Abhishek Bajaj; says 'There’s a platonic love between us'

Television actress Ashnoor Kaur, who recently got eliminated from the Bigg Boss 19 house due to violence against Tanya Mittal, joined Times of India TV for an exclusive conversation. In an exclusive interview, Ashnoor Kaur opens up about the ongoing accusations surrounding her physical violence with Tanya Mittal during a task, firmly clarifying her side of the story. She also reflects on her growing bond with fellow contestant Abhishek Bajaj. She spoke about their connection and described it as “platonic love”. (Photo: Instagram)

On meeting parents

My mind finally feels calm. Honestly, after living apart from family for so many months, I was overwhelmed with excitement when I met my family. At the same time, returning to my own space left me emotional. The whole experience was truly comforting. It felt as if a heavy burden I’d been carrying for so long had finally eased. I did not hit Tanya intentionally

Honestly, now that I’m outside and seeing everything, people are telling me it was unfair and all sorts of things. I’m still trying to absorb it. But I stand by everything I said inside the house, my stance hasn’t changed. I even mentioned it while leaving, but I guess it didn’t make it to the episode because a couple of my lines were edited out. Even when others spoke to me about the situation, they told me, “You hit her.” And I didn’t accept that because I know I didn’t. If anyone had told me she was actually hurt, I would’ve rushed to her and apologized without a second thought. I didn’t even find out until after stepping out that Tanya had gotten hurt. I’m sensitive towards people

If you’ve watched earlier episodes, like when Farrhana broke the plate, I was the first one to check on Tanya and ask if she was okay. Farrhana wasn’t even close to me, yet during family week, I still went over and comforted her. Tanya got emotional that week and I hugged her. That’s who I am, I’m sensitive towards people. So if someone had really been hurt because of me, I would have immediately apologized. (Photo: Instagram)

On Tanya's violence topic - I genuinely believed she was just escalating something

With Tanya, the way she reacts, I don’t know what is being shown outside, but she tends to amplify small things. She can be very dramatic. So when she came and confronted me saying, “What have you done? Are you angry?” I genuinely believed she was just escalating something that hadn’t even happened. I didn’t realize she was actually hurt for real. (Photo: Instagram)

Parent's reaction to her elimination

They are really upset, yaar. They’re still very hurt about it. I’m the only one trying to stay calm and say, “It’s okay for now.” Since I haven’t watched past seasons, I don’t really know how far physical aggression usually goes on the show. But my mom has watched Bigg Boss for years, so she was extremely upset, saying this didn’t warrant such a big deal and that people usually just get warnings. I’m still trying to process everything myself. (Photo: Instagram)

Did makers plan your eviction?

It’s their game, and they are free to make whatever decisions they want. But yes, now that I’m out, I’m also noticing a lot of conversations—like why our videos were always shown, or why others weren’t called out when they broke rules. Even on the Weekend episodes, it felt like our group was repeatedly highlighted and questioned for every little thing. But again, this could just be one point of view. Maybe they were doing it to make the show more exciting or to create more drama. I honestly don’t know why certain things were shown the way they were, or what the exact reason behind it was. But I do feel it’s all part of the game, and I respect that. (Photo: Instagram)

On meeting Abhishek Bajaj

You won’t believe it, but it honestly happened by sheer coincidence. He had no idea that I love yellow flowers. Somehow, without even trying, we always end up twinning, I don’t know how it keeps happening. Earlier, people used to say we planned it. And then even after coming out of the house, when we unintentionally matched again, everyone thought it was intentional. But truly, it wasn’t. It just happened on its own. But what really mattered to me was that he was the very first contestant who came forward to meet me. Moments like that show what you actually take away from the house, real, effortless bonds. Friendships that are pure and sincere and those are the ones you truly cherish. (Photo: Instagram)

On bond with Abhishek - there’s a platonic love between us

Yes, I’ve come across a few things on social media. But it’s fine, it’s 2025. A boy and a girl can simply be friends. I’ve said the same thing even inside the house. People will always have their own interpretations and emotions, and that’s okay. But the truth is, we’re extremely close as friends, and we genuinely value and respect the bond we share. Of course, there’s a platonic love between us. On that level, we truly appreciate one another, we enjoy each other’s presence, and there’s a tremendous amount of mutual respect too. But beyond that? No, nothing else. We are simply good friends, that’s all. (Photo: Instagram)

It is concerning to see the values modeled on shows like Bigg Boss. The conduct of certain contestants, exemplified by individuals like Tanya and Farhana—along with the show's overarching narrative—often glorifies toxicity, manipulation, and selfishness. We urge the relevant authorities and broadcast standards bodies to assess the societal impact of such content on impressionable youth
