Exclusive - Charu Asopa: Did everything to save my marriage; was told to stop working, start cooking for Rajeev, he will be happy

Mere Angne Mein actress Charu Asopa and Rajeev Sen have been living separately and things between the estranged couple are getting murkier with each passing day. After Charu accused Rajeev of domestic violence and infidelity. Recently, Rajeev Sen accused Charu of having an affair with Karan Mehra in an interview. Now, while responding to Rajeev, in an interview to ETimes TV, Charu has slammed Rajeev for his allegations and has also revealed some shocking details about her turbulent married life. Charu revealed that she was sacked from her TV show, Akbar Ka Bal Birbal due to Rajeev as he would message her co-stars. I kept quiet and never spoke about Rajeev’s abusive side and my problems in marriage because I didn’t want to make things ugly, but when Rajeev started making statements like I need doctors help, I am mentally ill, calling me dramebaaz, then telling the media that I did not inform him about my marriage, that’s when I decided enough of his lies, I need to come out and tell the world what the truth is. Professionally, he was not letting me grow. When I did Akbar Ka Bal Birbal during the lockdown, he messaged my co-actors and asked them not to work with me. He spoiled my relations with the makers, nobody knows that I was thrown out of the show. People feel that the show shut down within three or four months. But the truth is I was sacked within a month because of Rajeev. He messaged all my co-actors asking them to stay away from me and when the producers learnt about it, they decided to sack me. Then I thought I will focus on YouTube. But he again started making comments like I am lost in the virtual world and I don’t care about my daughter, I am using my Ziana for content. In fact, when he makes his videos or when he’s around Ziana he shoots her for his videos and when he’s away he uses her old videos otherwise he doesn’t have any content. I still decided fine, let's give it a chance and I stopped showing her in my videos. I said if you think this will solve the problem fine I won’t shoot her. There was pressure from my family. They would tell me in marriage sometimes you have to adjust. I had made up my mind but people around me would tell me that it is a wrong decision and I should think about it and that’s why I decided to give another chance before Ganesh Chaturthi. I had decided to end the marriage because I knew it was right for my daughter. He promised me that from his end things won’t be repeated. I told him very clearly that I am giving him this chance because of our daughter. He assured me that he won’t repeat things. When the physical abuse happened, I had called the cops also and filed a complaint also. I still have an NOC copy with me. But then every time he would come back apologising and I would forgive him as I loved him. I was always under pressure from my family’s side to make this second marriage work. Otherwise people would think bad about me and taunt me that Iss ladki mein he problem hai, Tabhi dusri Shaadi nahi Tikki. Hence, I put in a lot of effort and it got me frustrated and I was not happy. I knew he was cheating on me but I couldn’t catch him red handed. I had confronted him. He would block my number and once he was staying at a five star hotel in Mumbai despite us being in the same city. He had blocked my number and I called him from our maid’s number. He told me he is staying at JW Marriott, I drove all the way to Juhu at 2:30 am in the night when I reached to check why he was staying there and gave him a call. He told me he’s staying at JW Marriott, Sahar which is close to the airport. I drove there and when I asked him why he was staying there, he said that he was going to Delhi but stayed back as it was Durga Puja. He has this habit of blocking me on the phone. Once he disappeared for 3 months and blocked me on the phone. His family is also annoyed with him because to make him understand is not possible. So they would tell me to be mature. You stop working for 6 months, start cooking for him, he will be very happy. After marriage he would tell me if you are working this marriage would not work. I gave up on work also to keep him happy and save my marriage, but if any of my co-stars or male friends would say hello to me also, he would get upset. He would say such cheap things when I would go for auditions. He would send me messages. He was always suspicious about me and would link me up with anyone. He had spoken nasty about me to my mother and instigated her against me. My mother is very vulnerable and she doesn’t understand the social media world that if I am shooting for a video it must be a collaboration. She thought if her son-in-law is saying it must be true. He has created so many problems in my family. He has even got my mother and father to fight. He had created so many misunderstandings. He has made things ugly. I shifted from that house because I wanted to live a peaceful life. I want to focus on my life, my career and most importantly my daughter Ziana. She's my priority. I have to work harder for her. I feel disgusted that she will grow up and read these reports. I was so disturbed and heartbroken when I read Rajeev’s interview when he said in his interview that I kept the news of my first marriage under wraps and lied to him. I loved him and that’s why I got married to him. Shaadi ki Buniyaad ko unhone dhokha bana diya. When she grows up tomorrow she will think I actually lied to his father and got married.
