Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah recently celebrated its 16th anniversary, bringing the entire cast and crew together to commemorate the occasion. Sonalika Joshi, who has played a key role in the show since the beginning, took the opportunity to reflect on her journey and share some of her favorite memories from the set. The journey of 16 years has been amazing. There is a lot of gratitude in my heart as the audience have been showering so much love on us. We are always happy whenever we achieve a milestone. The responsibility gets bigger every year but we are enjoying the pressure because we know that making people smile or laugh is not an easy job. To make people is emotional like family drama, daily soaps are easy but to make people laugh for so many years at a stretch is challenging. No, I don’t know how to make achar or papad like Madhavi in real life. I enjoy eating it and my mother makes very delicious pickles and papad. I tell her to keep some bottles for me aside and I take them home. I enjoy having it. (Photo: Instagram)

Yes, the fans often forget the real and reel life and they actually believe that I’m Madhavi Bhide. There have been numerous examples when fans have come up to me and asked about recipes. In fact, whenever I post something on social media of my own a reel or photo, they comment please stop making reels, go make achar papad. Fans often mistake Mandar and me as real life husband and wife. We are family friends also so initially we would go on dinners with our respective families. So fans would come and ask Mandar and me why are you two not sitting together, you are husband and wife. There are so many fans who literally come to us and ask for a flag in Gokuldham society because in the show we had started a business of selling flats. They feel that we are agents so they can get flat through us. They feel that our Gokuldham society is a housing society for real and we all stay there.
