Exclusive - Tanya Sharma on her role in ‘O Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera’ and working with Sriti Jha and Shabir Ahluwalia: Every time we’re on set together, it’s fun and completely ego-free
Tanya Sharma, who rose to fame as Meera Modi in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and later played Reema Narayan Oswal in Sasural Simar Ka 2, is back on television with a layered negative lead in O Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera. The actress is currently seen as Ira, the main antagonist in the show starring Sriti Jha and Shabir Ahluwalia.
Opening up about her off-screen equation with the lead cast, Tanya shared that working with Sriti and Shabir has been a refreshing experience.
“My rapport with Sriti is genuinely warm and easy. I’ve always admired her as a performer, and I look up to both her and Shabbir for the kind of people and artists they are,” she said.
“There’s something rare about working with people who are so grounded, generous, and real. Every time we are on set together, it just feels chill, fun, and completely free of ego. The energy is always positive, supportive, and encouraging, which makes the whole process feel less like work and more like creating with friends,” Tanya added.
The actress said that such an environment brings out the best in everyone. “I’m grateful for the space they create, because it makes collaboration feel natural, uplifting, and honestly, something I always look forward to,” she noted.
Talking about her character Ira, Tanya explained why the role appealed to her. “I’ve always been drawn to roles that break the mold—characters with layers you can sink your teeth into, ones that are messy, real, and actually fun to portray. Ira in O Humnava, is exactly that for me,” she said.
She emphasized that Ira isn’t a one-dimensional villain. “She’s not your typical ‘negative’ character you’re supposed to boo at. She’s relatable. She’s the girl of today—someone who thinks about herself, her ambitions, her peace, but also fiercely loves the person she’s chosen. Ira doesn’t live by a script written for her. She follows her heart, even when it makes her unpopular, even when it puts her at odds with everyone around her,” Tanya explained.
According to the actress, Ira’s intensity is what makes her stand out. “That’s what makes her an extremist. Not in hate, but in feeling—she feels too much, wants too much, and refuses to dilute herself to fit in. Playing her is a challenge because she’s contradictory and human. She’s flawed, but honest. And honestly, I think that’s why people see a bit of themselves in her. She’s not perfect, but she’s real, and that’s rare,” she said.
O Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera premiered on 20 April 2026. The show marks the second on-screen collaboration between Sriti Jha and Shabir Ahluwalia after Kumkum Bhagya.
