Fabulous 15: Birthday girl Ashnoor Kaur talks about being a social media influencer at a young age

Patiala Babes actress Ashnoor Kaur just turned 15 today (May 3) and is super excited about the birthday celebrations. But did you know Ashnoor is one of the youngest actresses to become a social media influencer? At the age of 13, Ashnoor started her journey as an influencer. Speaking exclusively to TimesofIndia.com, Ashnoor spoke about having a positive approach towards life and how one should stay safe and away from trolls. By: Sukarna Mondal

Balancing social media and acting

Being an actor by profession it gets difficult to balance at the time. I have shoot, I have to study and also handle my social media profile… I have to juggle a lot. My mom used to scold me as I used to spend a lot of time on the phone. But slowly, she understood the importance of spreading a positive message. Photo: Instagram

Caption is very important

Being an influencer is not about showing off. When you show off, people get sad and they envy other people’s lifestyle. When you write a positive message, people will get motivated and will see you as a better person. Photo: Instagram

Stay true to your audience

Most of my audiences are youngsters and teenagers. So I have to monitor my content and post accordingly. I also read and hear what they have to say. We are the growing India and it’s important to spread the correct and positive things. The number of likes and comments don’t matter. What matters is the content of the comments. I go through the comments and respond to them as well. Photo: Instagram

There should be a positive guidance

It’s important that we have correct guidance. My family is my guiding light. Be it by scolding or politely telling me, my parents have always guided me and explained to me what’s right and what’s wrong. Photo: Instagram

Be the best version of yourself

I was going through a difficult phase when I had gained some weight. I was demotivated. I was totally shattered and I didn’t step out. I used to think that I will look bad. I had a low self-confidence level. But then I realised that I have to love myself only then people will accept you. That’s when I started promoting self-love. Being the best version of yourself and not others. Photo: Instagram

Main apni favourite hoon

I totally believe in the tagline, “main apni favourite hoon”. If you won't be your favourite, you won’t be anybody’s favourite. You need to accept yourself the way you are. Photo: Instagram

Don’t pay to buy likes

I have seen many youngsters you pay to gain likes and comments. Let your content grow organically. You should be happy with an organic reach. Photo: Instagram

9/11

Believe in the brands you promote

I make sure the products are safe for me and I will only promote then. I don’t want to cheat my audience. I post the brand integrations in such a way that it shouldn’t feel like an ad and the message should be portrayed correctly. Photo: Instagram

Reacting to online trolls

All actors have faced such moments and I have been through the same. Once I had played a prank on my audience and told them that I have chopped my hair. So I got a lot of messages regarding that. If there are trollers, there are also people who support you. So count those blessings and ignore the negativity. Photo: Instagram

Access to phones at young age

Using the Internet has its own pros and cons. People shouldn’t entirely stop using them. We get our entire study materials on mails and there are so many study apps. We should limit our access to phones. We shouldn’t forget our surroundings and live in the moment. Photo: Instagram
