Fitness is a constant for me, that’s non negotiable: Mohit Malhotra
Actor Mohit Malhotra known for his acting in TV shows such as Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Sasural Genda Phool, Jamai Raja amomg others, reveales his newfound love for golf. He says, "I think hobbies eventually become less about excitement and more about alignment… anything that brings you back to yourself, that’s worth keeping. I’ve recently started playing golf, and I’m really enjoying it. It’s a very different space… quiet, focused, and it teaches you patience in a way most things don’t. Fitness is a constant for me… that’s non negotiable and playing the sport is another way to meet my fitness goals."
Mohit also shares that he was into sports since his school days.
He says, "I was always fairly active in school… not the kind who could just sit through the day quietly. I needed something happening… so sports naturally became a big part of my routine. It wasn’t very structured in the beginning… it was more about just being involved, trying things out, figuring out where I fit in."
"I spent a lot of time playing table tennis and for a while, badminton as well. I even went on to play a few interschool competitions in badminton, which was probably the first time I understood what it means to represent something beyond just yourself. You prepare differently, you show up with more intent, and you realise there’s a mindset to competition, not just skill. And then there was this whole other side of growing up after school. I remember coming back home in Delhi, and there was always some cricket happening right in front of the house. We had a big ground there so it was almost like an extension of the day. You drop your bag, change, and you’re out again, no planning, you just knew someone would be there. That part of childhood had a very different energy, it wasn’t about winning or losing, it was just about being there, completely in the moment."
He goes on to add that basketball came into his life for more personal reasons. "I remember I wasn’t as tall as most of my peers back then and at that age, you notice these things. So somewhere, I picked it up thinking I need to push myself a little more physically. I started playing regularly and over time, I actually did grow taller. So in my head, I’ve always given basketball a little credit for that phase. But more than the height, I think it gave me a certain confidence because you’re constantly in situations where you have to keep up, adjust, not feel like you’re falling behind," he says.
Looking back, he feels those years quietly shaped him in ways he understood much later. "Somewhere between those games after school I think somewhere in those days you don’t just grow up, you start understanding yourself a little better. But apart from that, I also enjoy music, long drives, and just switching off when I can," he says.
Mohit first gained popularity as a contestant on the reality show Splitsvilla 2. He is also known for featuring in shows like Bhagya Lakshmi, Naagin 5, Daayan among others.
