Actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani has come a long way in her profession life. She started off as a model and then won hearts with her acting skills and later became a politician. Not many known that she has also written a book named ‘Laal Salaam.’ Throughout the years she made headlines for her success stories and some controversies. Smriti Irani had a roller coaster of a journey in the industry. The actress came to Mumbai at a very young age to fulfil her dreams. After a lot of struggles she entered the world of modelling. Smriti contested in Miss India 1998 and became one of the finalists. She did a few modelling campaigns there after.

After a lot of hard work, Smriti managed to crack the acting audition and become the lead of Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Netizens loved her acting skills as Tulsi Virani in the TV show. She was also seen in TV shows Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat, Ek Thi Nyaaka and more.

Not many know, that she was awarded as the Best Actress by Indian Television Academy from 2001 to 2005. She also received many awards in the 2000s for her role of Tulsi in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Smriti Irani and Ekta Kapoor share a very close bond ever since the Kyunki days. When Smriti left the show, people suspected a fall-out between the two of them. The actress turned politician got married to Parsi Businessman Zubin Irani in 2001. They have two children together Zohr and Zoish. Zubin's daughter Shanelle from first marriage also stayed with them. Shanelle recently tied the knot and it was attended by the who's who of the politicial and movie world.

Smriti has also tried her hand at writing and wrote her first book in 2021. Her first book ‘Lal Salaam’ received a lot of appreciation and love from the audience. The book is based on April 2010 Maoist attack in Dantewada and the role of central police forces.
