Namita calls out age-shaming comments

Namita recently made her debut at Cannes, however, the Shark was trolled for her appearance. Calling out the trolls she shared, "You are old, 47, dress your age. You are just a nepo kid. You don’t deserve a seat on shark tank as you are always saying “I am out” Please don’t post your Cannes pictures, your IPO is coming up, you won’t be taken seriously as a business leader” Who defines who we are & how we need to behave?"

She further added, "The biggest gift in life is when …with age, with some white hair & with guidance from precious mentors, you discover your true authentic self & celebrate self love. Yes, I will go all out in Cannes…yes, I will put up my pics on social media & oh yes, I will not be apologetic & defensive about who I am :) Here’s to taking every stereotype ever created & squashing it with my 6 inch killer heels !!!"

Namita debuts in Cannes 2024

Namita Thapar made her Cannes debut wearing a stunning ruffled off-shoulder gown. The entrepreneur shared her experience on being at the International platform, "Typically, you associate Cannes only with film stars, the people from the movie industry. Getting entrepreneurs here shows that we can be multidimensional, we can do business and we can ace it in fashion as well. So, in a way, breaking some stereotypes."

Namita spoke about suffering from perimenopause

In one of the episodes of Shark Tank India 3, Namita got candid about suffering from Perimenopause, she shared, "Perimenopause happens a few years before Menopause begins and your periods absolutely stop in menopause. I became so anaemic that my haemoglobin went to 8 and we have an injectable that we take through IV, Ferric carboxymaltose. I had to take that injection for 5 months, it is a 45-minute process. That is how I am sitting here today. There can be such serious issues in women's productivity."

On her IVF journey

In one of the early episodes, Namita got candid about how she struggled to conceive and had to go through the IVF process, while sharing her experience she quipped, "In my case when I was 28 years old I wanted to get pregnant and in 2 months I conceived and had a normal pregnancy and after that, for 3 to 4 years I tried and I couldn’t conceive. I have gone through 2 infertility treatments and those 25 injections and the emotional and physical pain that I went through. Even the taboo things that keep your legs up, crossing your legs and I already have kids but imagine the parents who don’t have kids. After two attempts I gave up and said that I am happy with one child. But then a miracle happened and I conceived naturally. Apparently, the memory stayed with me and for 10 years I couldn’t talk about it publicly even on my Youtube channel I couldn’t as it was taboo to speak, a scar but 6 months back I spoke about infertility with the doctor and stayed up all night thinking if I could go public about this. People did support me and said it's private and why do you wanna talk about it? But then I listened to my heart and for the first time I spoke about it and have written about a particular thing in my book."

On being called nepo-kid

In an exclusive conversation with ETimes TV, Namita shared, " From day one, we get called nepo-kid and born with a silver spoon and papa ki pari. We are second generation. But what people don’t understand is, when I joined Emcure, were 500 crores, we are 8000 crores now. To take it to that level as a group, the second and third generation also needs to have entrepreneurial mindset. In India, 87% of our GDP is from family owned businesses. We are the third largest country, when it comes to just family businesses. While founders are fabulous, family businesses also have a very important place. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation also have a very important role. Sometimes, people don’t think through that. It’s just their ignorance, you just can’t help it."

Her message to all women on body shaming

Namita had taken to her Instagram handle sharing a strong message against body shaming, she wrote, "BTS from Shark Tank set…Real women EAT ! There is a growing trend of unsustainable diets, weight loss pills & other drastic shortcuts. Body shaming & poor mental health are by products of this. Vineeta & I are women who adore each other, support each other & EAT together. We prioritise our fitness & balanced diet but know that 20% times a good cheat meal is a must (my fav cheat meal is pani puri & chocolate cake, what’s yours?) Like our Nani said .. an extra helping of ghee & a little extra fat keeps your face youthful & glowing :)"
