From Gauahar Khan to Disha Parmar: When these married celebrities shut trolls for being questioned ‘Are you pregnant?’

In today’s digital media, celebrities are under constant exposure – being it their personal affair, marriages, families – they face constant scrutiny. And every time a celebrity gets married, if they tend to put on weight or are spotted wearing loose fitting clothes, the next question they face – Are you pregnant? These female celebrities have also faced this question post their marriage. Have they paid any heed to it? No, and they have shut all the rumour mongers and trolls like a boss.

A few months after her father's demise, a report carried the news of her being pregnant. This got the actress so upset that she quoted the story and replied, "Tumhara dimaag kharaab hai! Aur facts bhi. 12 saal chote waali galat news hui purani, go get ur facts right b4 typing! I've just lost my dad so have some sensitivity towards ur baseless reports. I am not pregnant, thank you very much!"

Niti Taylor, who is married to Army officer Parikshit Bawa, recently posted a video addressing to all the ‘pregnancy’ comments. She wrote alongside, “Just because a girl is married and likes wearing loose clothes doesn’t mean she is pregnant or anything else!”

Actress Ishita Dutta faced the question, when she did an ad with hubby Vatsal Sheth. In the commercial, Ishita played a pregnant woman. Ishita told in an interview with ETimes TV about how she had to show photos to her friends to prove that she is ‘not pregnant’. Ishita said, “We were doing an ad together, where I played a pregnant lady. That time, the pictures went viral. And immediately after that, I gained a little weight. It was diwali and we posted a normal Diwali picture. I don’t know how, but when you zoom in, it felt like I have a stomach. Next day, I woke up to see news all over that I am pregnant. Even my friends, who are very close to me, thought I was hiding it. They called me to ask. I had to wear something tight, click a picture and send it to them to prove that I am not pregnant. It is funny. I don’t really get affected. As fans, they always want to know what’s happening in a celebrity’s life. So it’s ok.”

Within just a few months of Neha Kakkar and Rohanpreet’s wedding, the singer’s weight led several to not just congratulate her on her pregnancy but some also got upset with the couple for not informing them about the good news. Even Neha's family was frequently asked about Neha's pregnancy. However, in a joint video, they cleared the air speculation. Neha said, "Maana maine mera tummy motu ho gaya hai but itna nahi ki main pregnant lagu. Come on! Matlab Neha Kakkar bhi thodi chubby, golu-polu ho sakti hai. Toh main abhi bas golu-polu hoon, iska matlab yeh nahi ki main pregnant hoon." Rohan added that Neha's paunch was due to family's love and the food they have.

In November 2020, Yuvika Choudhary's photo in a pink anarkali sparked pregnancy rumours. Some thought she has a little baby bump but she exclusively told ETimes TV, "I am not pregnant. I had just recovered from COVID-19 when I was rushed to a hospital for dengue. I have not even fully recovered and I am certainly amused by the false rumours." She did express her desire to have a baby and added, "It will happen when it is supposed to happen, but later."

Anita may be enjoying her motherhood to the fullest with her son Aarav now but there was a time when she was happily enjoying her married life without a baby. She had once clarified her pregnancy rumours on social media and shared, "The good news is that I'm not on a diet ... I'm on pizzaaaaa chocolatessss ice creamssss winessss. Am glowing cos I'm in love with my husbandddddddd. And I promise to let you all know proudly when I am expecting! Cheers."

In 2021, Jennifer Mistry went missing from her show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah. It led people to speculate that she is pregnant. However in an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, she clarified, "I have been getting too many messages if I have quit Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Some are even asking if I am pregnant. The truth is far from otherwise. I have just not been well, of late. I had a lot of pain in the heel, which made my walk discomforting. I was on very strong medicines but the problem did not subside soon." The actress is already a mother of one.
