From Indraneil Sengupta-Barkha Bisht to Subhangi Atre-Piyush Poorey; TV couples who divorced after several years of marriage

Barkha Bisht and Indraneil Sengupta’s divorce news shocked everyone. The couple, who got married in 2008, will be divorced soon. There’s are several such TV couples who had a fairytale love story that fans admired. However, they left everyone shocked after announcing their divorce or separation. Here’s a look at some of the TV couples who called it quits after several years of being together.

Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain actress Shubhangi Atre has separated from her husband Piyush Poorey. The former couple, who got married in 2006, have an 18-year-old daughter. Speaking to BT, the actress had said, "It’s been almost a year since we are not living together. Piyush and I tried our best to save our marriage. Mutual respect, companionship, trust, and friendship are the foundation of a strong marriage." However, the two continue to remain on cordial terms and co-parent their daughter.

Barkha Bisht and Indraneil Sengupta met on the sets of TV show Pyaar Ke Do Naam...Ek Raadha Ek Shyaam in 2006 and got married two years later in 2008. Their relationship hit a rough patch two years back and they started living separately. Barkha confirmed the news of her divorce with BT and said, “Yes, our divorce should come through soon. This has been one of the toughest decisions of my life.” The former couple are parents to an 11-year-old girl.

Karan Mehta and Nisha Rawal’s separation came out as a shock to everyone. The two were married for over 9 years and their relationship ended after Nisha filed a domestic violence case against Karan in 2021. The two levelled several accusations against each other including violence, extra marital affair, and more. The two have a son together named Kavish. The two have filed for divorce.

Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Shaikh, who were married for over 9 years, saw a downfall in their relationship. The rumours of their marriage crashing came in 2020 but they decided to stay mum on the matter. In January 2022, the former couple parted ways and their divorce came through. Aamir in an exclusive chat told BT, "It was extremely difficult at that point. After my marriage fell apart, main hil chuka tha." He even added, "I don’t want to play any cards, but unfortunately, a man is always blamed. I have always maintained a dignified silence on matters related to my personal life. Someone I have spent so many years with deserves respect. So, I won’t say anything." They have a daughter named Arya, who stays with her mom Sanjeeda.

Sachin and Juhi met on the sets of a TV show and felt an instant connection. The two got married in 2009 and had a daughter in 2013. However, things were not all rosy for the couple and their relationship saw a downfall. In 2019, Juhi announced her separation from Sachin. In an interview with BT, Sachin said, "The divorce happened with mutual consent, amicably and in a dignified manner. Unfortunately, and by Juhi’s own public admission, she was never in love with me. One-sided relationships are doomed from the beginning. It’s said, 'It’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all'. But the fact is that it hurts to have been in a loveless marriage. Nothing I did could make Juhi love me." The Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor got remarried to Chandni Kothi in February 2023. Juhi has the custody of their daughter Samaira.

Raqesh Bapat and Ridhi Dogra were married for over 7 years when they decided to part ways. Neither Raqesh nor Ridhi ever revealed the reason behind their separation. However, the two are still ‘good friends.’ Back in 2019, Raqesh had told TOI, "Ridhi and I have decided to separate. There is nothing bad in it. Mahabharat fame Nitish Bharadwaj confirmed his divorce with wife Smita Gate after being married to her for 12 years. Their divorce was finalised in 2019. They have twin daughters together who live with Smita in Indore. Both Nitish and Smita were earlier married to different partners.

After being together for 15 years, they decided to separate because of unresolved differences — they believe it is better than living in constant acrimony. The decision is amicable and their priority is their teenager son.” Rinku and Kiran have a son together.
