From living in chawl to comparing her second marriage with Abhinav Kohli to poisonous wound: A look at Shweta Tiwari's life struggles

Shweta Tiwari may be a successful name in showbiz now but the actress hasn't had it easy. While she climbed the ladder of success with her television shows slowly and steadily, the actress has had several struggles in her personal life including her two failed marriages.

In an interview with ETimes recently, Palak talked about her mother's early days. She said, "When she started out, she used to live in a chawl-like one-bedroom space. My nana, my nani, my mama, and my mom used to live there, which was just one bedroom, and that's where my mom started."

Shweta did some commendable work on television in her initial years. Her claim to fame was Kasautii Zindagii Kay where she played the role of Prerna Sharma. The show, produced by Ekta Kapoor, ran from 2001 to 2008.

Shweta tied the knot with actor Raja Choudhary in 1998 when she was just 18. The actress welcomed her first child, Palak two years later. The marriage wasn't a happy one. Shweta accused her husband of alcoholism and domestic violence. They eventually divorced in 2007.

Shweta found love in Abhinav Kohli. Two years after winning Bigg Boss 4 (2011), Shweta got married to him. The couple welcomed their first child together in 2016. However, right after, her marital discord became public.

It was in August 2019 that Shweta first filed a complaint against Abhinav alleging domestic violence and harassment towards her daughter. Later, Abhinav defended himself by making some of their private chats public.

Shweta told ETimes TV exclusively in 2019, "I want to tell everyone I was going through a difficult time but now I am in a happy space. I was going through severe pain because of an infection, so I got it operated on. It was poisonous and I had to take it out. And now, I am healthy again."

Abhinav accused Shweta of not letting him meet his son, Reyansh, especially when she went to shoot for Khatron Ke Khiladi. He made videos to prove his claims. The two fought a custody battle that Shweta won. She said, "This is what I wanted and I am honestly satisfied with the judgement. Abhinav would follow me everywhere I went in the last two years." She added, "He alleged that I kidnapped Reyansh and kept him away from him, when I have proof that in all cases, he was aware of Reyansh’s whereabouts all the time. Even during the Khatron Ke Khiladi shoot, he tried to create yet another scene despite being fully aware of Reyansh's stay."

While Shweta's career has always been an upward tick, the actress courted controversy last year. At a press conference of her web series, Sourabh Raaj Jain, her co-star, was teased for playing the character of a bra-fitter in the web series, while in his previous shows, he had essayed the role of Lord Krishna. To this, Shweta said, "Bhagwan se seedha bra fitter. Matlab jump toh dekho... Meri bra ka size 'bhagwan' le rahe hain (Straight from God to a bra fitter...look at his jump...My bra size is being taken by God (in the web series)." This created quite an outrage and an FIR was filed against her in MP.
